Celebrating World Art Day with Carles Azcón

To mark World Art Day, celebrated every April 15, Sant Cugat organized an extensive program of activities on Saturday, April 18, 2026, coordinated jointly by the Visual and Plastic Arts Sector Committee of the Cultural Council and the Sant Cugat City Council.

Sala Rusiñol joined this celebration of art by opening its doors to the public with two free activities featuring artist Carles Azcón, who is currently exhibiting his collection “Collserola, Our Green Lung” at the gallery.

The day began with a guided tour of the exhibition, led by the director of Sala Rusiñol, giving visitors the opportunity to discover the key themes of the exhibition and gain a deeper understanding of Carles Azcón’s artistic vision of one of Sant Cugat’s most emblematic natural spaces.

Following the tour, the artist himself gave a live painting demonstration, sharing his creative process with the audience. Visitors were able to watch, step by step, as a new work came to life, discovering his working method, his expressive brushwork, and the sensitivity with which he interprets the landscapes of Collserola.

Both activities were free of charge and received an excellent response. The gallery welcomed a large number of visitors, who actively participated throughout the day and greatly appreciated the opportunity to meet the artist in person and witness the creation of a painting live.

Through initiatives like this, Sala Rusiñol reaffirms its commitment to promoting the arts and bringing art closer to the public, transforming the gallery into a vibrant space for meeting, learning, and shared artistic experiences.

Below, we are pleased to share a selection of photographs from the event, highlighting some of the most memorable moments from the guided tour and Carles Azcón’s live painting demonstration.
