“From movement to line” remembering R. Aguilar Moré

On this occasion, we have prepared a fascinating selection of works by one of the leading figures of Catalan art and an artist with close ties to Sala Rusiñol: AGUILAR MORÉ (1924–2015).

A descendant of the Napoleón family of photographers, pioneers of photography and cinema in Barcelona, he studied drawing at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi and was a pupil of the painter Oleguer Junyent. From 1953 onwards, he lived between Barcelona and Cadaqués, collaborating with artists such as Salvador Dalí, Joan Josep Tharrats, Joan Ponç, Josep Roca Sastre and Ignacio Iturria. In 1960, he was awarded the National Fine Arts Prize.

Adolescent figures, urban scenes, interiors and jazz orchestras make up a pictorial universe distinguished by its solid structure, balancing formal rigor with a vibrant sense of movement and life.

Now, on the tenth anniversary of his passing, we wish to pay tribute to him with this exhibition, bringing together a carefully curated selection of representative works from his artistic legacy, organized in collaboration with his sons.

The exhibition will be presented by Àlex and Marc Aguilar Vila, the artist’s sons.
