• Tu? (nom, naixença i el que vulguis): Josep Mª Mejan i Corbera. Barcelona, 1942. Sóc d’ascendència francesa i, per això el meu cognom s’escriu sense accent. Visc a Camprodon.

• Una virtut teva a destacar?: La voluntat, la tenacitat, sóc molt tossut.

• Un punt feble teu a reconèixer?: Tot el contrari de l’anterior: quan la tenacitat o la voluntat no dóna els seus fruits.

• El teu plat preferit? (per a qui desitgi convidar-te): En general, la cuina empordanesa, però obert a tot el que sigui ben cuinat.

• Un record de la teva vida?: La primera exposició. Un altre: als 10 anys vaig pintar el primer quadre a l’oli. La meva il·lusió era ser pintor. Al llarg del temps he aconseguit ser-ho: millor o pitjor, però sóc pintor.

• Un rècord en la teva vida? (pregunta afegida per suggeriment del pintor Román Francés): Arribar als 70 anys i seguir mantenint la il·lusió.

• Un lloc d’aquest món?: Molts, moltíssims. Si haig d’escollir: Asuan (Egipte), on el Nil queda pràcticament pla (s’estén molt i es navegable contracorrent).

• Un llibre?: En general l’obra de Tabucchi, (va morir fa poc).

• Un escriptor?: Un escriptor que m’agrada García Lorca.

• Del “setè art”: una pel·lícula?: Sens dubte, “Casablanca”.

• Una afició?: Col·leccionar.

• Un somni?: Que tothom pugui dormir sense malsons.

• Què és l’art?: És manifestació de la visió que té cadascú del que veu. El paisatge no existeix: cada espectador es fa el seu.

• Per a Plató, la bellesa és la crida d’un altre món per a rescatar-nos de la caverna on vivim (què et sembla?): La bellesa està en molts llocs, i cadascú la pot veure com li atrau. Hi ha coses que són boniques per a uns i per altres no. La bellesa respon a la sensibilitat que cadascú diposita en la percepció del que veu. Si no, a tots ens agradaria el mateix.

• T’has trobat amb la Bellesa (així, amb Majúscula)?: Sí. Afegeixo: moltes vegades de forma sorprenent, no premeditada. Sóc contrari als canons i als “ismes”. Els canons no em condicionen.

• El teu mestre?: Em considero força autodidacte, trajectòria molt evolutiva dins de l’art. Com a mestre, no tinc ningú especialment.

• T’identifiques amb alguna escola de pintura?: No. M’interessa molt l’evolució del pintor.

• Un pintor a qui admires?: Molts. M’agraden molt moltes obres de diferents pintors.

• El teu primer record del món de l’art?: El primer quadre que vaig pintar als 10 anys (la Plaça Neptuno, de Tiana), que el vaig vendre a la meva mare per 2 pessetes.

• La teva primera alegria en l’art?: La primera exposició que vaig fer, l’any ’79.

• La teva primera exposició?: Com acabo d’esmentar, va ser el 1979, a la Galeria de Joan Mas Zammit (al carrer València, de Barcelona).

• El teu estil?: Divers; respon molt a l’estat d’ànim. No vull estar encasellat en cap “isme”. Em bellugo entre l’abstracció i la figuració.

• El teu color?: Tots, barrejant-los tots, treballant-los tots.

• El teu tema?: Paisatge.

• Ens dius quelcom més? (el que vulguis del que vulguis): No!

• Alguna altra pregunta? (que desitgis que et fem): Per què el paisatge? Perquè la natura és una font d’inspiració que no acaba mai.
