A Day in March 1986: A Tribute to Miquel Cabanas on the Occasion of Sala Rusiñol’s 40th Anniversary

As part of the events celebrating the 40th anniversary of Sala Rusiñol and as a tribute to the artist Miquel Cabanas, featured in the exhibition Miquel Cabanas: The Enduring Gaze, the film A Day in March 1986, directed by Frederic Cabanas i Castells, was screened on June 4 at the Cabanas Foundation – Cal Gerrer House Museum.

The film offers a glimpse into an ordinary day in the life of Miquel Cabanas at the age of 70. Through the eyes of his son, Frederic, we discover the artist in his most intimate surroundings—writing, painting, and spending time with his family.

A Day in March 1986 is a document of great human and artistic value, offering a unique insight into Miquel Cabanas’s personality beyond his paintings. The footage portrays an artist deeply committed to his own creative world, his landscapes, and a vision of art that was inseparably linked to life itself.

The screening complemented the exhibition Miquel Cabanas: The Enduring Gaze, giving visitors the opportunity to discover a more personal side of the artist while helping to preserve the memory of a legacy that continues to endure.
