The figure of Miquel Cabanas has been honored by friends and relatives of the artist.

Last Thursday, December 2, the Sala Rusiñol presented to the public in attendance, and to all those who connected via Instagram, an extraordinary collection of unpublished works by the artist Miquel Cabanas Alibau (1916-1995).

A journey through twenty-five works from 1975 (one year after his brain accident) to 1994 (one year before his death) where the visitor can discover the most representative themes of his pictorial work.

gnasi Cabanas, son of the artist and director of the Sala Rusiñol, traced an interesting biographical profile, full of anecdotes, which allowed us to discover the most human profile of this painter and poet who played an important role in the cultural life of Sant Cugat.

Afterwards, the journalist and art critic Josep M. Cadena spoke about his contribution to the art world and his personal pictorial language.

Mention was also made of his poetic side and, in this sense, an emotional Jordi Franquesa recited three of his poems “La veleta del campanario de Sant Cugat”, “Idilio” and “La última oración” that are part of his book “Voliaina”. Before this, his son, Ignasi Cabanas, wanted to read to the attendees the words that start the volume.

Esther Madrona, Councilor of Culture of Sant Cugat, closed the ceremony by praising the figure of Miquel Cabanas as an artist and as he participated very actively in the social and cultural life of the city. In this sense he recalled that he was named “Santcugatense of the Year” in 1994 for his human and artistic career as well as being one of the promoters and creators of the “Bastoners” of Sant Cugat.

Finally, one of his poetic volumes was raffled among all the attendees. In this case “El Llibre Blau. Passaport a l’Eternitat”, as well as two tickets to visit the Cabanas Foundation to learn about other aspects of the artist. Here we leave you the moment of the delivery to the winner.
