Black Friday

For the third year in a row we are ahead of this event!

From 4 November, as we have done in previous editions, we are getting ahead of Black Friday and offering you the chance to buy works by artists from the Sala Rusiñol at special prices.

On this occasion you will find works by:

AGUILAR MORÉ (1924-2015) Throughout his artistic career his work has gone through different stages: expressionism, cubism and realism. Skilful with drawing, he creates an atmosphere of neo-romanticism. Adolescents, urban subjects, interiors, still lifes of figures, jazz orchestras… make up his pictorial universe.

VIVES FIERRO (1940) It starts from cities as living organisms to create works with a plural and dynamic personality, with construction and destruction at the same time, with posters and signs that form part of an ensemble that is primarily communicative in form and colour.

CASADEMONT -le vieux- (1923-2007) Casademont’s work is very personal, with an austere palette rich in nuances, reflecting the landscape in its broadest sense. Closely linked to the Empordà, he knew these corners inch by inch, which over the years he captured in a large part of his work.

JAUME LAPORTA (1940) The beauty of simple things and the transcendent meaning of actions that were once commonplace and now seem surprising are the basis of Jaume Laporta’s painting. The ropes bitten by the salting of the sea, the rust of metal, the hazelnut skin of fruits and the forceful strength of the female nude are the protagonists of his work.

ARQUER BUIGAS (1932-2012) In his work, both in oil paintings and in pastel or charcoal, the atmospheres full of melancholy where the impressionist brushstroke is the protagonist must be highlighted. Women are the central theme of his works: maternity, backs, nudes…

MAITE LLONGUERAS (1957) He worked intensively in oil painting. During the early years he devoted himself to capturing his emotions in Mediterranean waters, transparencies, interiors and still lifes in his studio with quinces and brushes. At a later stage he added the theme of the living uncle and the landscapes of Barcelona.

JOAQUIM HIDALGO (1928-2011) He himself classified his work into five periods; First period 1953-1960, Expressionist series 1961-1975, Birds series 1976-1979, Matter series 1980-1990 and Contact series, which began in 1991. The intense chromatism in his works reveals a dreamlike inner world where the landscapes captured in a moment of enchantment stand out.

ANDREU FRESQUET (1940) He cultivates a critical realism in which diffuse figures appear, generally against dark backgrounds. Dynamic colour is the essential characteristic of his painting. Still lifes and fruit compositions, dance movements and windows are the expressive forms that have always attracted him.

ERNEST DESCALS (1956) His work stands out for the personal rendering of atmospheres where grey and blue tones are the protagonists. Urban themes, but also figures, are the main themes of his work, always accompanied by a sensation of movement that fills everything.

OSCAR BORRÁS (1947) Everything in his work is positive. He does not want to lead us towards bucolic visions of mythology, nor does he take the position of one who exalts the virtues of the primitive human being, but rather idealises the present of our landscapes.

ALMUDENA FERNÁNDEZ DE LIENCRES S. (1960) His work evolved from an objective representation to a clearly hyperrealist version, where a series of singular still lifes find their image enriched by the chromatic contrasts that dress the dark backgrounds that characterise his paintings.

TOMÀS VILÀ (1952) A great lover of his homeland, his works are basically centred on places close to him. His is a realist painting, with a predominance of landscape subjects, nocturnal scenes of rural villages and wine cellars.
