Inauguration of the Mateo exhibition

On Thursday September 9 at 7:00 p.m. we have inaugurated the exhibition of Mateo “Stories from the interior”

Friends and customers have accompanied us during the inauguration. Thank you all!

We have started the 2021-2022 Season with the inauguration of the Joaquín Mateo exhibition “Stories from the interior”. This collection of paintings, which includes his most recent work, leaves no one indifferent both for the technique with which he solves his compositions (mixed techniques and collages) and for the themes (domestic interiors) where everyday objects (cups, books, newspapers, flowers…) take center stage, evoking an intimate space for reflection. Nor can we ignore the excellent use it makes of light, generally coming from a window, thus playing with interior/exterior concepts.

A good number of followers of his work have gathered in the Sala Rusiñol to get to know the artist and feel closely his explanations as well as the critical commentary of the renowned journalist and art critic Josep M. Cadena.

The event was started by Ignasi Cabanas, director of the Sala Rusiñol, who after welcoming all the attendees and the artist, wanted to remember that this year we are celebrating our 35th anniversary. Then it was the turn of the critics, where Josep M. Cadena has drawn a profile of the author for us. Finally the artist has addressed the public and has told us about his art and the meaning of the objects that are part.

Here you will find the full video of the inauguration:

The inauguration, as is customary in our art gallery, can also be followed live on Instagram. So if for future occasions you want to follow us live, you can do it in our profile https://www.instagram.com/salarusinyol/

Once the presentation is finished, and as is usual in our space, we raffle an original work by the artist among all attendees. Here you have the video of the raffle where you will know who has been the lucky one on this occasion.
