Vernissatge d’en Vives Fierro (19 febrer 2010)
Amb en Vives Fierro i la seva imponent obra “Urbs picturata” ha arribat a la Sala Rusiñol un huracà d’expectació, audiència, reserves i vendes d’art. Amb un ambient familiarment distés, el capvespre del 19 de febrer ens brindà l’ocasió per a conèixer més de prop a aquest infatigable i agosarat cercador -alliberat de tota imposició- que és l’Antoni Vives Fierro…
4 apuntes de… Vives Fierro. Bo i seguint el “protocol” dels vernissatges a la Sala Rusiñol, el nostre col·laborador en Joseph Hostench li treu al pintor un perfil ràpid. Les paraules també “dibuixen” un personatge. I, eixí la sorpresa de la tarda!: resulta que el bressol d’en Picasso fou una taberna regentada per un dels besavis de l’Antoni Vives Fierro. Després ens ho contà amb més detall.
Des del primer moment, el pintor es posà a disposició de les sol·licituds tant dels mitjans de comunicació com també del públic. En la foto, un dels moments en què Vives Fierro atengué les preguntes realitzades per alguns dels assistents al vernissatge.
L’Ignasi Cabanas deia haver perdut el compte de les vegades que l’Antoni Vives Fierro ja havia exposat a la Sala Rusiñol. – «Ja no ho recordo…». – «Doncs jo sí: sis vegades!», apuntà immediatament el pintor. Hom vivia l’ambient d’alegria d’un moment esperat. En cedir la paraula a en Josep Mª Cadena, l’Ignasi no pogué contenir-se enfront l’enorme bagatge d’aquest periodista i crític d’art: «És el número 1».
En Josep Mª Cadena no deixa passar ni una: «L’Antoni és el number one, en Cabanas el number dos i jo sóc el “número pi”»… Tot entrant en matèria, «l’art és comunicació i, dins de la comunicació, la pintura és llenguatge. És també una manera d’afirmar-se de les persones. Els quadres de l’Antoni Vives Fierro són d’aquells que “miren” i “parlen”, i faciliten la comunicació col·lectiva. L’Antoni és, com a persona, un home actiu i lliurat als altres. I amb la seva pintura fa el mateix. Mira, parla i comunica amb franquesa allò que sent». 
“Ubs picturata”, ciutat pintada, és un títol que té la seva història. Ve d’una altra exposició presentada l’any 2004 a la Residència d’Investigadors. La d’ara és distinta, però fita al mateix: Vives Fierro arrenca de les ciutats com a organismes vius i les presenta posant la seva voluntat curulla d’experiències. «Les obres de l’Antoni ofereixen una personalitat plural i dinàmica, feta a mida que passa el temps, amb construcció i destrucció alhora; amb cartells i rètols que han arribat no se sap com, però que si fossin foragitats els trobaríem a faltar perquè miren i parlen d’un conjunt que és primordialment comunicatiu des de les formes i els colors» (Josep Mª Cadena).
«Ara parlaré d’en Cadena. Ja estic fart de què en Cadena parli de mi…! El number one és en Cadena. Realment, cal imaginació per tal d’afirmar tot el que ha dit de la meva obra: quan pintes no penses en totes aquestes coses (…). Quan pinto faig una proposta: podrà agradar o no. Després el que costa és vendre els quadres. Bé, el que més costa és cobrar-los!». -Moment en el que l’Ignasi Cabanas interromp: «A la Sala Rusiñol els cobrem!». -Respon en Vives Fierro: «Sí, però jo no treballo només per a la Sala Rusiñol… Bé, en tot cas, ets l’única galeria en la que exposo cada dos anys: ho feu bé i m’hi trobo bé». 
La dada sorpresa del capvespre: Vives Fierro ens explicà que «ara, per allò de l’incendi, s’ha posat de moda Horta de Sant Joan. La meva família és d’allí. El meu besavi era el propietari de la taberna del poble. Allí aterrà en Picasso als seus 19 anys. Hi arribà acompanyant un amic seu que estava malalt i necessitava reposar al camp. I s’hi quedaren 9 mesos. Va fer un retrat del meu besavi, que ara és exposat a Estats Units. En Picasso tornà a Horta de Sant Joan més tard…, seria cap l’any 1908 o 1909, i allí “nasqué” el cubisme».
Arriba el torn de les preguntes al pintor. -Ell es defensa: «Que preguntin a en Cadena, que ho sap tot». – «Fa vostè quadres sense usar el collage?». – «Des de fa vint anys sempre utilitzo el collage. A vegades més, altres vegades menys». – «La seva filla? Ha aprés algun aspecte del seu pare?». – «No, ella és com una finestra que obres i entra aire fresc: no es deixa influenciar. Els joves volen “pressa”: per això cada cop hi ha més salons i exposicions de fotos…». – «I els seus nets?». – «Són menuts. Del nen, fins que no tingui setze o disset anys no ho sabrem…».
