Vernissatge d’en Joan Capella (14 desembre 2012)
Comença la inauguració de l’exposició d’en Joan Capella amb unes paraules de record i admiració que Ignasi Cabanas dedica a l’artista. El director de la Sala Rusiñol no va voler deixar de destacar que aquestes peces són com un tresor i que són fruit de l’honest treball d’un artista que ja no hi és entre nosaltres, motiu pel qual hem de mirar-les amb reverència. També va explicar als presents que l’exposició de Nadal, que és la que ara es presenta, i la de l’Aniversari, al mes de maig, són els dos actes més importants de la temporada d’exposicions a la Sala Rusiñol.
Els quadres que es presenten a la Sala Rusiñol representen diverses èpoques de la trajectòria de l’artista i deixen palesa la capacitat de veure amb ulls nous les situacions de sempre, explicà en Josep M. Cadena. Capella va ser un home molt vinculat a la seva ciutat, Montcada i Reixac. Tot i que pintava allò que tenia al seu voltant, era capaç d’imprèmer el seu sentit personal. Veiem als seus quadres el mestratge del cubisme però des de la seva visió de pintor de veritat perquè reprodueix les coses amb el que ell sent, de forma que el seu esperit és més important que la materialització de les coses i, sense voler-ho, va ser mestre, va crear una escola on una sèrie de gent hi va trobar un guia. “Va caminar en silenci però amb tossuderia”.
Tot seguit intervingué en Jorge Gómez, director de la Fundació Joan Capella. Ens explicà que a l’any 2002 l’artista donà un fons d’art amb part de la seva obra a l’Ajuntament de Montcada i Reixac amb el compromís de què el consistori la mantinidria unida i es dedicaria a la seva exhibició i promoció. Va ser l’any 2006, un any després de la seva mort, quan la Junta de Govern Local va donar el vist i plau per iniciar els tràmits per a crear un organisme encarregat de vetllar per la difusió, projecció i conservació de l’obra. L’any 2008 va ser la data en què es va constituir aquesta Fundació que, des d’aleshores, ha organitzat nombroses activitats i publicacions entorn a la figura de Capella. 
Àlex Mitrani, autor del llibre “Joan Capella (1927-2005), la modernitat propera” explicà que Joan Capella, en una època de precarietat moral com la que ell va viure, reivindicà el dret a la bellesa. També destacà com uns valors importants la domesticitat de les seves obres, ja que pintava bàsicament a casa seva, a l’estudi, racons de Montcada.. així com el fet de què mirava envers París però amb el seu matís personal. “L’elegància i el refinament formal de Capella el situen a l’alçada dels millors pintors”.
Finalment Ignasi Cabanas animà Mariana Draper a parlar del vessant més personal. Ella recordà que a l’any 1985 el seu pare conegué a en Joan Capella i de seguida li digué: “Tenim un pintor nou!”. En Joan era un bon pintor i una persona excepcional. Ens explicà que les inauguracions a Barcelona eren apoteòsiques perquè tots els seus coneguts l’acompanyaven. “Era una persona molt solidària i de gran humilitat”. També va fer referència a les nombroses converses que mantingueren entorn als grans pintors. Ell considerava París la terra dels grans artistes i anhelava exposar-hi, cosa que finalment va aconseguir i l’omplí de joia.
