Vernissatge d’en Jesús Casaus (14 maig 2010)
La Sala Rusiñol celebra el seu XXIV Aniversari amb una exposició commemorativa a càrrec d’un artista d’expressiva i colorista inspiració: Jesús Casaus (1926-2002). De tradició fauvista, aquest català format en el París de les vanguàrdies és avui dia un dels artistes més reconeguts a Europa i Estats Units.
L’Ignasi Cabanas es congratula per l’honor de contribuir a la memòria d’en Jesús Casaus, traspassat el 2002. «Aquesta no és una exposició corrent. Amb ella desitgem que l’obra d’en Casaus segueixi viva. Ell fou una persona important per a aquesta sala». Com a director de la Sala Rusiñol donà la benvinguda a l’Iñaki Casaus, fill del pintor ara homenatjat.
En Josep Mª Cadena també s’afegí a l’agraïment i a la satisfacció per aquesta exposició-homenatge de caràcter extraordinari, «que diu molt a favor de la família d’en Jesús i de la Sala Rusiñol». Aquesta selecció d’obres dóna una visió completa d’en Casaus, i els quadres responen a l’estil que el defineix. Pintor de mirada penetrant, cercava i feia seves les coses. En les cares i els rostres es reflecteixen les coses que ell es preguntava quan pintava.
En Cadena conegué Casaus ja fa molts anys, i ens pogué traçar algunes pinzellades de la seva formació com a pintor: estudiant de l’Acadèmia Baixas; deixeble dels mestres Joan Serra i Lluís Muntané; els influxos de la força del color de l’Albert Marquet (1875-1947) i de les experiències fauves que contemplà en una de les seves estades a París… Jesús Casaus entra en un cromatisme cada cop més exaltat, amb una pintura molt viva i personal, que li ha valgut una gran reconeixença a Europa i Amèrica.
«Aquesta exposició neix d’una selecció d’obres que han quedat. En elles emergeix la pintura com a llenguatge, com una manera de dir les coses. En aquesta col·lecció tenim l’oportunitat d’apropar-nos a allò que ens ha succeït col·lectivament: veiem la reconstrucció d’un passat, que també és present perquè en Jesús Casaus no restava solament en l’anècdota d’algunes coses, sinó que també arribava a la representació de com som nosaltres». 
Iñaki Casaus, en representació de la família de l’artista, tingué paraules d’agraiment. «La família estem contents de què s’hagi escollit el meu pare per aquest homenatge i de poder participar en ell».
