Però sí que ella hi és en esperit. Abans que ningú, des de fa dies, els seus quadres escalfen la Sala amb el caliu dels seus nens i de les seves platges…
Avui, en Josep Mª Cadena juga un doble rol —cosa que només ell podria fer. Parla com l’habitual crític d’art i, alhora, ocupa també el lloc que li ha deixat la convalescent pintora. «Els saludo en grup tot i que podria fer-ho un a un». Irònicament, va afegir: «Som pocs perquè els altres són a les “platges”…».
«Els altres són a les platges, però vostès noten millor que som a l’estiu: estem davant d’escenes de platges, on hi fa sol i on veiem els nens vora del mar acaronant amb les seves manetes l’aigua que s’endinsa i es retira de la ribera. Qui ens ha dit que és hivern? Això és una ficció, perquè això del fred és molt psicològic! Depèn de com cadascú ho miri».
La veterania d’en Josep Mª Cadena li permet confidències com aquesta: «Tinc un record de l’Alícia que els vull contar, malgrat que ella ara no hi sigui. Fa anys, la vida de l’art era més planera que ara… Jo formava part d’un jurat d’un concurs que convocava una empresa de mobles. Un any el va guanyar l’Alícia. Ella va venir amb una filla. Quan rebia el premi, amb tota la seva innocència la nena va dir davant de tots: —“Mare, aquest quadre està al revés”. Era veritat!, però el quadre s’aguantava perquè l’Alícia sap emmarcar molt bé el conjunt: bona composició de color, moviment, etc.».
