We are starting the art-season of 2015-16 with an exhibition of Eduard Malvehy<\/strong>. He has a fine style which produces a pleasant feeling. In Europe we have just come back from holidays and we are returning to the noise of daily life. So, we are very thankful for this peaceful view of the urban spaces in which we live.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\"2\"<\/a>Ignasi Cabanas<\/strong> is welcoming us and he is introducing Eduard, a well-known artist at the Rusi\u00f1ol Gallery, because this is the 5th<\/sup> time that he exhibits with us. The title of the collection \u2014\u201cLandscapes 2015\u201d<\/u><\/em><\/strong>\u2014 announces its content. In this collection we get a feeling of order and placidity which embraces very \u201ccosmopolitan\u201d landscapes, like New York, Paris, London, and other also urban, but more \u201crustic,\u201d like Cadaqu\u00e9s, Vic, Sitges, which are closer to home.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\"3\"<\/a>Also Mr. Josep M. Cadena<\/strong> greets the attendees in the start of this period. He acknowledges the Rusi\u00f1ol Gallery and its managers \u2014the family Cabanas\u2014 for \u00abtheir will of continuity and perseverance at the same place\u00bb. Malvehy\u2019s work consists of \u00abpolite painting\u00bb, he says. Some and other landscapes, maybe due to their cubist style and the straight architectonic lines, transmit a feeling of order and idealism of urban life. Here we perceive a collective will to overcome. On the whole, all this brings us a feeling of \u00abhappiness and awareness that things can always get better\u00bb.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\"4\"<\/a>The artist<\/strong> speaks about the beauty of the cities reflected in their architectonic and plastic features. One of the attendees is surprised because, among urban landscapes, water is a very present element: \u2014\u00abWater is my favorite drink. I like it and as a painter it is an important resource in my work. Water is plastically very beautiful; it \u201caccompanies\u201d the buildings very well.<\/div>\n
\u00a0\"5\"<\/a>The artist<\/strong> is asked if it is a coincidence that the bigger paintings are about much bigger cities. \u2014\u00abNot necessarily! I also have \u2014in this exhibition\u2014 small paintings of large cities\u2026 But, in fact, it is true that the big cities are better for wider representations which occupy more space\u00bb. Another of the attendees is also surprised because he cannot see any landscapes of Zaragoza, the city where Eduard Malvehy is living: \u2014\u00abI also paint landscapes of Zaragoza, but I haven\u2019t brought them here!\u00bb..<\/div>\n
