Black Friday
For the fourth year in a row, we are anticipating this event!
From November 3rd, and as we have done in previous editions, we anticipate Black Friday and offer you the opportunity to purchase works by artists from the Sala Rusiñol at special prices.
On this occasion you will find works by:
BELLOSTA (1962) He studied pictorial procedures at the School of Applied Arts of Barcelona (Llotja) and obtained the title of design of Stamping by the School of Fine Arts Massana of Barcelona. He qualifies as almost self-taught. He does not identify with the modern adjective nor with the classic one when he talks about his work, but he likes 19th century art more because it is an art closer to nature and the countryside. He defines himself as a lover of contrasts and nature. He is an easel painter and works from notes and sketches.
GRIERA (1934-2018) Born circumstantially in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1934. His father had a religious imagery workshop in Olot, where he learned to perform all the techniques related to this art and where he developed a great artistic activity. Start making your first trips to sell these images of saints. He studied at the School of Fine Arts of Olot for a short period of time.
At age twelve he won his first prize at the Catholic Center. At eighteen he was part of the group “Crater of Art”, along with several artists who met periodically. Influenced by Anglada Camarasa, whom he met while doing military service in Palma de Mallorca, and the painter Vermeer de Delft.
He made his first exhibition in 1954. His exhibition history is very extensive, both nationally and internationally.
MALVEHY (1945) Born in Barcelona in 1945, he studied painting in Barcelona and Paris. In 1972 he held his first solo exhibition and, since then, we find his works in the main national and international galleries, especially in Europe and the United States. He has won several prizes, among which we can highlight the Bronze Medal in Sitges, 1976, the Silver Medal in Evian, 1983 or the First Prize in Aix-en-Provence, 1984. In 1981 he was selected to be part of the Tribute to Picasso organized in Barcelona. He has appeared in numerous criticisms such as the one made by Fernando Gutiérrez in La Vanguardia or the critic Rafael Manzano.
Eduard Malvehy is one of the current painters who has managed to build his own pictorial geometry. The architecture of its buildings is evident both in the urban landscapes of Paris, Amsterdam and those recently dedicated to New York, such as still lifes or fishing ports. Posing the work with intellectual rigor, perhaps, is one of the keys that help to understand a painting like his that is surrounded by silence, poetry and almost mystery, and where the linearity of forms does not take center stage in light
DANÉSJORDI (1935-2006) At the age of twelve, he entered the School of Fine Arts in his hometown where he was a pupil of Pere Gussinyé and Martí Casadevall. This training was expanded thanks to the numerous trips he made to the main museums of Europe paying great attention to the new currents that opened paths.
His first exhibition dates back to 1953, so that more than fifty years of dedication to art have been a militant in the forefront of watercolor. He founded the Santjordi workshop to innovate religious images in the world of saints’ workshops in Olot, to which he gave a more stylized air.
During the seventies, and until his last days, he began a great exhibition career both in our country and abroad. He was awarded several prizes, such as J. Civil in the Watercolor Biennial of Barcelona and the Gold Medal of the Association of Watercolor Painters of Barcelona. Of his extensive bibliography we can highlight Olot, bird of autumn, the painters of the Costa Brava today or the Living Encyclopedia of Catalan Painting and Sculpture.
Danésjordi synthesizes, but never imposes himself on the formal reality he paints. His works have the tinkle of the one that exists by itself. Build the paintings from a beautician base. Skillful with drawing, creates an atmosphere of neo-romanticism.
DOBLAS (1957) He studied drawing and graphic design at the Massana School in Barcelona and screen printing in Zurich (Switzerland). His first solo exhibition dates back to 1986. He has participated in several biennials and has been awarded with important painting prizes. We find his work at several museums such as the Abelló Museum in Mollet del Vallés, the Tossa de Mar Museum in Girona, the Francesc Galí Art Legacy in Palamós …
PERE CAMPS (1957) At the age of twenty, he made his first stay abroad, in Morocco, where he will reside for three years, and will begin a totally professional dedication to painting. Shortly after his return to Barcelona, he went to Paris, immersed in the pictorial and cultural environment of the time and made his first exhibition outside of Spain, just when he turns 25 years old. In 1958 he returned to Barcelona where he combined pictorial activity with a new personal challenge that led him to design several textile collections. In 1973, the growing attraction for the sea and its surroundings led him to settle in a small town in the Baix Empordà and began a prolific stage in both the field of oil painting and the watercolor. This intense activity, and the convenience of temporarily breaking with the uniformity of seascapes, sandboxes and windstorms, leads him to combine his life, from the year 1987 and up to date, with long stays in a borda-study of a town of mountain of the Valley of Aran, where the snow, in addition to the landscape contrast, acts as a balance counterpoint with the Empordà lands. He has made numerous exhibitions in Spain but also in Paris, Toulouse, Lisbon, Munich, London and at the headquarters of the United Nations, in Geneve.
