• Tu? (nom, naixença i el que vulguis): Maria del Pilar Bayés de Luna; vaig néixer a Vic, el 21 d’abril de 1941. Era la postguerra. Era un moment una mica trist, però alhora amb ganes de reprendre la vida. Sóc besnéta d’en Joaquim Vayreda.
• Una virtut teva a destacar?: Ser constant.
• Un punt feble teu a reconèixer?: El desordre, el “despiste” (enormes!).
• El teu plat preferit? (per a qui desitgi convidar-te): Truita de patates.
• Un record de la teva vida?: La primera vegada que vaig veure el mar.
• Un rècord en la teva vida? (pregunta afegida per suggeriment del pintor Román Francés): Amb els llibres n’he tingut més d’un. He hagut d’acabar algun llibre que sembla impossible… i l’acabes.
• Un lloc d’aquest món?: Venècia.
• Un llibre?: L’Evangeli.
• Un escriptor?: Valle Inclán.
• Del “setè art”: una pel·lícula?: “El festí de Babette”.
• Una afició?: M’agrada molt el cinema, el teatre, el circ… l’espectacle!
• Un somni?: Que el món anés més bé, que fos més lògic…
• Què és l’art?: Es una cosa que ens surt de l’anima per a comunicar-nos amb l’altre gent i per a tocar una mica la bellesa.
• Per a Plató, la bellesa és la crida d’un altre món per a rescatar-nos de la caverna on vivim (què et sembla?): Plató!!! És una mica veritat! A vegades la bellesa es una mica sublimació de la realitat, una aspiració. Una cosa per a sortir de la caverna, segur!
• T’has trobat amb la Bellesa (així, amb Majúscula)?: En el paisatge, en la naturalesa hi ha molta bellesa. La més important! En les obres dels artistes, música, arquitectura, pintura s’hi reconeix moltes vegades aquesta bellesa que cerquem. La reconeixes quan algú l’ha buscat amb sinceritat, i dóna molt de gust!
• El teu mestre?: Els grans mestres sempre són els mestres. Per a mi un gran mestre ha estat Pieter Brueghel el Vell.
• T’identifiques amb alguna escola de pintura?: En això mai m’he sentit partícip de cap corrent. Jo dibuixo el que em surt de la baterola (una manera de dir de Vic, és a dir, el que em surt del cap). Dibuixar no és solament un procés instintiu, espontani… jo penso el que vull dibuixar. Al començament ja ho feia així, i ara no canviaré. A vegades mentre es dibuixa l’obra ella mateixa demana el seu protagonisme.
• Un pintor a qui admires?: He dit Brueghel. El segon, potser, seria, Rouault, de temàtica religiosa, importantíssim, francès, va tenir el seu esplendor als anys ’40. També Botticelli, autor del “Naixement de la Venus” (m’encisa la seva admiració pel cos humà).
• El teu primer record del món de l’art?: Quan vaig fer un dibuix i vaig veure que a algú li agradava i que me’l comentava. Jo dibuixava sense donar-hi importància i quedava molt parada quan la gent em comentava els dibuixos.
• La teva primera alegria en l’art?: Em van encarregar uns crismes i els vaig veure impresos. El qui m’ho comprava, anant amb moto, va caure i tots els crismes van anar a parar a uns bassals, i allí es va acabar tot…
• La teva primera exposició?: Va ser a Vic. Una exposició sobre les virtuts cardinals i els pecats capitals. Hi vaig posar anècdotes que havia escoltat del meu avi.
• El teu estil?: M’agrada comunicar i que la persona que miri els dibuixos s’assabenti d’alguna cosa. Procuro donar alguna pista per tal que l’observador sàpiga de què tracta la il·lustració. Per exemple, si es tractés d’un dibuix de Mallorca hi posaria una ensiamada…
• El teu color?: El groc, és el color de la llum.
• El teu tema?: Les festes majors.
• Ens dius quelcom més? (el que vulguis del que vulguis): — (Acaba d’arribar l’alcaldessa de Sant Cugat del Vallès, per a presidir el vernissatge, i s’acaba l’entrevista sobtadament…).
