Vernissatge de la Magda Esterli (12 març 2010)
La Magda Esterli inaugurà la seva exposició “El mar es vesteix de festa”. La Magda ens a encisat amb la seva mestria: pinta indistintament -si és que hom pot dir-ho així- usant l’aquarel·la i l’oli. Un cas singular! Hem tingut la impressió d’haver assistit a dues inauguracions: a la Sala 1 podem admirar els olis d’Esterli; a la Sala 2 (planta inferior) les seves aquarel·les. Ella mateixa ens ho explicà…
Una imatge curiosa! En Josep Mª Cadena i el nostre col·laborador Joseph Hostench, cara a cara. Aquesta vegada li hem tret un perfil també a aquest excel·lent periodista i crític d’art. No en resultarà un perfil ràpid, a base de “4 apuntes de…”, sinó un perfil gruixut i d’envergadura: perquè així és en Cadena… A més, hem anotat algunes reflexions seves per a enriquir la nostra secció “El arte de sacudirse la crisis con el Arte”. Tot plegat ho podrem veure d’aquí algunes setmanes…
Ara és el torn de la pintora. Després d’haver estat entrevistada pels diversos mitjans d’informació de la ciutat, en Josep Mª Cadena i en Joseph Hostench li prenen el “perfil ràpid”. La Magad Esterli es mostrà tal com és: oberta, sensible, franca, amiga de les seves amistats. Realment, és interessant conèixer més de prop la personalitat d’un pintor: així entens el seu art. La Magda aprofità per a dir-nos que dedicava aquesta exposició a la seva filla Jackie.
La Magda Esterli és amiga de molta gent. I la gent respon a la seva amistat: aquesta ha estat l’ocasió en què la Sala Rusiñol ha enregistrat una de les majors audiències en un vernissatge. Les fotos no enganyen. Els rostres reflecteixen alegria i il·lusió per l’èxit de la Magda.
«Quan venia a aquesta galeria, he vist en el carrer de Santa Maria uns rètols que -amb un triangle vermell, com els que veiem en els transformadors d’alta tensió- deien: “Les joves de Sant Cugat no tenen futur”. Em sorprèn per desagradable. Potser no tinguin passat o present, però el futur el tenen completament, perquè ens el fem nosaltres. Això és el que ha fet la Magda: el seu pare va anar a Valladolid a treballar, i quan ella tenia cinc anys tornaren. Ara és una pintora catalana, que ha entès el mar com quelcom actiu, com manifestació d’una lluita de les persones en relació a allò que hom dóna per establert». 
«Crec que la Magda Esterli es troba en un interessant moment creatiu, ja que després de diversos anys d’aprenentatge en els estudis de pintors molt notables -és just recordar en Josep M. Martínez Lozano- i amb un continuat d’exposicions que han reafirmat el seu innat sentit del diàleg, ha trobat unes maneres de fer que la distingeixen dins de la nostra plàstica» (pres de la ressenya d’en Josep Mª Cadena).
Després d’unes paraules d’agraïment, la Magda respongué les preguntes del públic. -«T’ha costat introduir-te essent dona?». -«No, perquè la meva pintura enganya i no sembla d’una dona. A més, firmo Esterli». -«Ets una pintora que s’expressa en l’oli i l’aquarel·la: per què les dues tècniques?». -«És per a trencar-me la closca. No ho aconsello a ningú: em porta el doble de dificultats. M’agrada la pintura, no ha de ser una qüestió de tècniques. L’aquarel·la: és molt digna, hem de defensar-la; amb ella es poden fer peces grans i tractar tots els temes. L’aquarel·la és molt senyora perquè no permet rectificacions. En l’oli pots “treure i posar”, tot jugant amb les textures. La utilització d’ambdues tècniques em permet descansar d’una o de l’altra». -«En els olis hom pot rectificar. Però… has trencat aquarel·les?». -«Sí, i olis també. El meu marit és qui s’encarrega d’estripar-los. Tot i que ell em frena. Jo sóc molt impulsiva, em devora la impulsivitat.
