• Tu? (nom, naixença i el que vulguis): Manuel Ruiz Ortega. Vaig néixer a Xerès, el 1951. He viscut a Barcelona des dels 15 anys, fins que ja vaig passar a professor emèrit. Aleshores vaig retornar a Xerès. He conservat dels meus orígens el color de la pintura, la llum, l’atmosfera: tot això un ho adquireix del lloc d’on ve, no del lloc on es troba.

• El teu primer record del món de l’art?: Els concursos de pintura que, quan era menut, fèiem a la vora de l’Atlàntic, al Port de Santamaria.

• La teva primera exposició?: Fou aquí, a Sant Cugat, a la Galeria “Fer bo”.
